Language of Origin: Farsi (Persian)
Shimírán is the name of the northern part of the city of Tehran, capital of Iran. It is the northernmost district of the city of Tehran. Shimírán lies in the slopes of Alborz Mountain and enjoys a suitable mild climate.
The word Shimírán or Shemran is the arabized form of the word Chamran consisted of two parts: "cham" (meaning "cold" in Avestan; "zama" or "zem") "ran" (meaning "slope"). In fact "shemran" means "the cold place" or "the cold slope".
